Mackerel Cove In Winter
Aerial view showing the southwestern half of Mackerel Cove, at Bailey Island, ME, on a cold February afternoon.
The cove sits between Elden Point to the east and Abner Point to the west and is one of the most photographed harbors on the Maine coast.
Mackerel Cove is one of many harbors in the town of Harpswell that support the vibrant Maine lobster fishery. Consistently, Harpswell leads all other Maine coastal towns with the highest number of licensed lobstermen, as well as having the longest coastline in Maine, at 216 miles.
