Land’s End Astro

The Maine Lobsterman Statue provides the foreground and nearby Jaquish Island the background for this image that captures the Milky Way and its Galactic Core.

Bailey Island lobsterman Elroy Johnson was the model for sculptor Victor Kahill’s work, commissioned for the 1939 New York World’s Fair.

Besides this statue, displayed at Land’s End on Bailey Island, ME, two identical statues are located at Portland, ME, and Washington, D.C.
